Alleged envious gangster shoots, injures teenager

CEBU, Philippines - Envy was seen as the motive for the shooting of a 16-year-old boy by an alleged member of a gang early morning yesterday in Kamagong St., barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

The victim, a resident of barangay Luz, and allegedly a member of a certain gang called the Bloods, was shot by an unidentified assailant described to be wearing a black T-shirt.

The informants, who are both 17 years old, told the responding policemen that they were with the victim on their way home walking on the road near a hotel in the area, when suddenly, the assailant shot them from behind which prompted the group to scamper for safety.

On the second gunshot, the victim was hit in the left leg. The perpetrator fled immediately.

Investigating officer PO3 Victor Ruel Ayuman of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office believes based on the allegations of the informants that the perpetrator is a member of a certain gang called the Cebu Royal Gangster. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
