Hospitalization, housing for City Hall employees eyed

CEBU, Philippines - Acting Mayor Michael Rama will discuss with the city’s human resource officer the possibility of coming up with hospitalization and housing programs for employees of the city government.

Rama said the programs would certainly help City Hall employees, considering that hospitalization is very costly these days.

Rama is proposing that a certain amount would be allotted for City Hall employees to avail of if the employee himself or his family would be hospitalized or would undergo any form of medical treatment. All hospitals must also be covered by the program, not just those owned or operated by the city, he said.

As regards the housing program, Rama said the city can buy properties where it could build houses, which can be sold to City Hall employees through subsidized housing loans.

Then again, Rama said the proposals need to pass through a long process and consultation with concerned departments of City Hall. Rama said the additional benefits can translate to improved productivity at work.

“We want to improve the welfare of our employees, as much as we want to improve our delivery of service to the public,” Rama said. — Jessica Ann R. Pareja/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
