Man mauled to death by drinking buddies

Cebu - A 36-year-old man was killed after his drinking buddies allegedly mauled and strangled him in barangay Lambusan, San Remigio town, last Saturday at around 8 p.m.

The victim was identified as Ronnie Banga Villegas, a resident of the said barangay while the suspects were identified as Jose Villamor Talisic, 31, and Mateo Sinajon Villamor, 46, both also residents of the said place.

Initial investigation made by the San Remigio police revealed that the victim and Jose had a misunderstanding as the former reportedly used Jose’s banca without asking permission.

PO1 Yuri Colonia said that prior to the incident the three were drinking alcohol.

Then Jose confronted Villegas as to why he used his boat without permission. An argument ensued between them that led to the mauling and strangling.

It was also learned from Colonia that the victim suffered a broken neck believed to have caused his death.

The suspects were arrested after SPO4 Primo Saturnino Duazo Jr. responded to the alarm.

They are now detained at the San Remigio police station waiting for the family of the victim to file charges.   — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
