Man charged for stabbing friends

CEBU - Murder and frustrated murder charges were filed against a man before the Regional Trial Court for stabbing two men in Lahug last December 11.

Kent Ryan Sabulao has been accused of killing Marlo Mari by stabbing him to death and wounding the victim’s companion, Alyn Marinduque.

Marinduque positively identified Sabulao as the perpetrator of the crime after the police arrested the suspect in their house shortly after the incident.

Marinduque said that he and Mari were eating in a street food stall locally known as “pungko pungko” when they were attacked by three men who immediately fled after stabbing them.

Luckily, Marinduque survived but his friend Mari failed to reach the hospital because of several stab wounds that he sustained.

During the arrest, Marinduque positively identified Sabulao as one of the suspects who attacked them but the latter denied involvement in the crime.

He said that at around 5:30 in the morning of December 11, he was in a little store in Salinas Drive drinking with some friends and that he only heard of the stabbing incident from the men who were passing by the store.

But prosecutor Patrick Osorio said that the suspect’s denial will only prevail in a full blown trial, hence, the elevation of the case to the Regional Trial Court. – Jasmin R. Uy/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
