Ronda carpenter shot dead over land row
CEBU - A carpenter was shot and hacked dead by his own nephew in barangay Lower Langin, Ronda town last Wednesday afternoon.
Police identified the victim as Genaro Antipuesto, 54, and the assailant as his neighbor Mario Antipuesto Omboy.
PO3 Christopher Bani of the Ronda police station said that victim was working on his younger brother’s house when suddenly his nephew shot him from behind with a gun, hitting him in the left armpit.
The victim managed to run but the latter chased him and shot him again hit in the head with the bullet exiting from his right cheek.
Still not contented, the assailant hacked the victim in his head four times and again in the back even as he lay on the ground. Bani said they suspect a land dispute was the cause of the grudge between the two.
“Brutal jud kaayo pagkapataya kay human pagpusil gigukod paman sa suspek ang biktima dayun gitigbas pa jud sa ulo. Pwerte gyu’ng pataya,” Bani said.
The victim was buried yesterday and his family said they plan to file a case against the assailant who is still at large.
Meanwhile, a barangay tanod of Poblacion, Sibonga town, was stabbed dead by two friends he was drinking with last Wednesday afternoon in sitio Capusoan.
Victoriano Resumadero did not make it alive to the hospital after being stabbed by Ryan Ponce Alcazar and Ronald Ocaña.
PO2 Ederlino Bacusmo of Sibonga police station said that the tanod and the two were having a drink when a drunken argument ensued.
The victim went home and returned with a piece of wood and struck Ocaña in the back. Alcazar retaliated and stabbed Resumadero in his back. It was later found that the knife hit his liver.
Bystanders rushed the victim to the Deiparine Medical Clinic, but he was later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center where he died.
