CEBU - Some parts of the firearms seized from businessman Noel Remedio in a raid last November 6 were reportedly “kept safely” in their evidence room that is why they were missed when the seized items were turned over to the court, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group told the court yesterday.
SPO2 Gilbert Banate of CIDG made the explanation after Regional Trial Court Judge Geraldine Faith Econg gave CIDG 72 hours to explain why it failed to turn over the sling and telescope of the guns seized from Remedio.
Considering that the once missing items have already been turned over to the court, Banate asked Econg to consider the “untoward outcome” of the raid.
Econg made the CIDG explain after the items turned over to the court differed from those presented to the media, as captured by newspaper photos. Econg is handling the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition case against Remedio.
Seized from Remedio’s house in barangay Talamban were a .380 Llama pistol, a .45 pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun, 20 bullets for a 5.56 rifle, 100 empty shells, 144 live ammunition for a .45 pistol, 200 bullets for a .40 caliber pistol, two magazines for a .38 caliber pistol, and two magazines for a .40 caliber pistol. – Jasmin R.
