Two mayors in Cardinal's thoughts

-

CEBU – While two Mayors in Cebu seem to be encountering difficulties right now, Cebu Archbishop Cardinal Vidal interceded with prayers wishing for the recovery of Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña while hoping that Talisay City Mayor, and known Catholic faith defender, Socrates Fernandez and his teachings will not be affected by the recent challenges in his life.

Vidal in a recent interview said he believes that Fernandez’ teachings of Catholicism will not be stained with unwanted ideas and values against the religion unless Fernandez gives up and let himself be defeated by the evil that is testing how strong his faith is despite the trials.

Fernandez has several programs both in television and radio. He appears on CCTN Channel 47-Cebu every Wednesday at 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. for his “Ang Katin-awan sa Pagtu-ong Katoliko.”

He also anchors programs in dyRF Radyo Pwersa everyday at 7 p.m. to 8p.m., dyXR Aksyon Radyo on Mondays through Fridays from noon to 12:30 p.m. and dyDD Bantay Radyo weekdays at 5:30 p.m.to 6:00 p.m.

Fernandez lectures on Catholicism and answers inquiries regarding the matter and the bible.

Vidal reiterated that Fernandez should not forget his obligations to the city by also looking after the welfare of his people and not only for his son.

To recall, Vidal has earlier told the mayor to discipline his son Joavan Fernandez after the latter has made noises in the papers, Televisions and radios.

Meanwhile, Vidal said that Tomas is in his everyday and personal prayers. He said he has already offered a Mass for his trip to US and will continue to pray for his fast recovery as he thinks also of the welfare of the people under Osmeña’s leadership. — Jessica Ann R. Pareja/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
