Two frat members tagged in murder of purchaser

Two members of Alpha Kappa Rho were detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office after they were tagged in the killing of a 31-year-old purchaser in Humay humay, Lapu-Lapu City Monday dawn.

Arrested were Leopoldo Cantero Zate, 17, a resident of Matumbo, and Francis Tampus Manlisic, 18, a resident of Calawisan.

The victim, Raymus Caballero, 31, a purchaser of AMB Marine Services, and a resident of Banilad, Mandaue City, died at the Mactan General Hospital after being allegedly shot by the suspects in the head.

Raymus’ father, Emmanuel, said he is seeking justice for the death of his son.

“Dili lahim ang pag-amuma sa akong anak mao nga mangita gyud ko og hustisya sa iyang kamatayon. Hinaot nga dili unta nga mausab ang nitestigos batok sa duha ka suspek,” said the older Caballero, taxi driver who was awarded by the Mandaue City government for returning the P4.2 million left in his vehicle.  Raymus was about to ride his motorcycle after drinking with his friends in a restro bar in Humay-humay at 1 a.m. last Monday when the two gunmen suddenly appeared and shot him in the head.

“Naglibog mi kun unsay motibo g’yud sa pagpusil kay wa man gyud to siya (Caballero) gikalalis niadtong higayona. Basin gipaligrahan to siya sa mga batan-on,” said Gerald, one of Caballero’s companions. — Ramil V. Ayuman/LPM
