Non-government organizations converged yesterday at the Fuente Osmeña Circle for a prayer gathering in support of Rodulfo Noel “Jun” Lozada, Jr. who exposed negotiation details of the anomalous National Broadband Network-China ZTE Corp. deal.
Akbayan Citizens’ Action Party, Alliance for Progressive Labor, Bukluran sa Ikauunlad ng Sosyalistang Isip at Gawa, Center for Participatory Governance, and Fellowship for Organizing Endeavors were among these NGOs.
Alvin Dizon, spokesperson of Akbayan Cebu, revealed that the prayer gathering was just a build-up activity in line with the series of activities they planned to conduct.
Dizon said that the prayer gathering is also one way of reaching out unorganized sectors to join them in their call for truth and justice.
He is also inviting everyone to join them in an advocacy Mass for truth on Monday to be celebrated at the Redemptorist Church along Mango Avenue at 7 p.m.
Earlier, Sanlakas Cebu together with the Task Force Detainees of the Philippines and Kongreso ng Pagkakaisa ng Maralita sa Lungsod conducted a protest action against the systemic corruption in government to show support to Jun Lozada and his family.
Sanlakas Cebu coordinator Jose Aaron Pedrosa said that they are behind Lozada’s revelation on the ZTE mess.
Pedrosa said that Lozada only reinforces the truth to the allegation of the magnanimity of corruption in the government.
“More than the ZTE issue, the Arroyo government is also guilty of the different human rights violations and electoral fraud,” he added. — Phoebe Jen Indino/MEEV
