UV remembers Don Vicente Gullas’ life, works
The University of the Visayas, in memory of its founder Don Vicente Gullas, yesterday conducted a symposium about his life to reminiscence his contribution to society and to the field of education.
The symposium is one of the activities prepared by the university’s administration for the celebration of the 120th birth anniversary of its founder, Don Vicente Gullas today, January 12.
Judge Lorenzo Paradiang, also a UV alumnus, discussed the life of Don Vicente as a great educator whose mission was love and service to humanity.
Meanwhile, as part of its continuing efforts to promote a clean and green environment, UV also held a seminar on waste segregation and composting at the UV AVR yesterday.
UV executive vice president Jose “Dodong” Gullas said the university’s clean and green program is part of the university’s drive to promote love of environment among its students and staff and at the same time to educate its students to become eco lovers.
The university’s staff, faculty and students participated in the seminar where retired chemist and solid waste management specialist Jeb Bajarias was the guest speaker. Bajarias was the former quality assurance and pollution control officer of San Miguel Corporation. — Phoebe Jen Indino/QSB
