Basilica busy with Sinulog preparations

The Basilica del Sto. Niño is now busy preparing for the big celebration of the Fiesta Señor which starts next week.

Novena Masses for the Sto. Niño will start this Thursday, January 10, at 5:30 a.m.

 Prior to the first Mass, a penitential procession shall take place.

Novena Masses will be celebrated starting Thursday until January 19 Friday, the last day of the Novena Masses will also feature the traditional Walk with Mary where the devotees of blessed virgin are expected to assemble in Fuente Osmeña.

The daily Novena Masses are scheduled at 5:30, 7:30, 8:30, 10:00 and 11:30 in the morning and from 1:00, 2:30, 4:00, 5:00 and 7:00 in the afternoon.

Different institutions from the public and private sector are expected to attend the Novena Masses.

On January 19, the tradition fluvial procession will start in Mandaue City at 7 a.m. where the pilgrim image of the Holy Child will be brought to Cebu City by sea.

And on January 20 the Pontifical Mass will be celebrated by Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal at 6 a.m., the Mass serves as the highlight of the celebration.

The following day a thanksgiving Mass will also follow and on the 25th the traditional Hubo Mass will be celebrated.
