2 Akrho members shoot, hurt fellow Akrho man

Two Alpha Kappa Rho members shot and wounded a co-member, for a still undetermined cause, at De Paul Real Homes subdivision in barangay Casili, Consolacion Saturday evening.

The victim 23-year-old Gibson Cadampog, a resident of the subdivision, was hit in his left waist and was taken by relatives to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

PO1 Manuel dela Cruz, a member of the Regional Mobile Group-7 who is a resident of the subdivision, had just arrived from work when he heard two bursts of gunfire. When he saw the attackers running to a dark area, he fired a warning shot but the two kept on and disappeared.

Investigators have already the names of the assailants, based on the information that Cadampog gave to the police at the hospital. They were the brothers Florencio and Richie Malzado, both Akrho members and residents of the same barangay.

SPO1 Romeo Sasing, of the Consolacion Police, yesterday said Cadampog was just standing by the roadside, waiting for a ride, when the Malzado brothers arrived. It was Florencio who drew a .45 caliber pistol from his waist and fired at the victim.

Sasing said Cadampog admitted that the Malzado brothers have a grudge on him because he was a witness to the siblings’ involvement in a shooting incident in Mandaue City early this year. — Flor Z. Perolina/RAE
