At least four vintage bombs were retrieved from a junk shop in barangay Poblacion in Badian town while another one was surrendered to the Sibonga town police last Thursday.
SPO2 Ceferino Camacho, the chief of the Bomb Squad Section of the Cebu Provincial Police Office, presented to the media yesterday the bombs that they recovered from the two towns.
Camacho said the Badian Police Station turned over to him yesterday morning one live M-67 fragmentation grenade, one 81-millimeter mortar shell and two illumination projectiles, which were already diffused.
He said the bombs were retrieved from a junk shop near the Badian Police Station after one of its workers informed the police of their presence.
Camacho added that last Thursday, a MK2 fragmentation grenade was surrendered to the Sibonga Police Station after it was found at a fishpond in barangay Poblacion.
He said it was good that the bombs were turned over to the police as they could pose great damage to human and properties within a five-meter distance once they explode.
All the recovered bombs will be brought to a quarry site in barangay Guindarohan in Naga town for proper disposal. - Flor Z. Perolina/LPM
