Police identified the victim as Richardson Bangas, 29, a resident of V. Rama Avenue. The assailant was only identified as a certain Eboy, also a resident of V. Rama Avenue.
Based on the investigation conducted by the Homicide Section personnel led by PO3 Rogelio Nedamo, the victim and the suspect were drinking when a heated argument between them occurred.
A female witness told police that during their argument, the victim punched the suspect in the face. But the suspect retaliated by shooting the victim in the back with an undetermined caliber of firearm.
The suspect immediately fled while the victim was rushed to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center where he died around 5 a.m. yesterday.
Police, however, have yet to determine the motive of the killing.
The killing was the second involving the civilian volunteers of the BIN, which was created by the Cebu City Police Office as source for information against criminal elements in the barangays.
