A short heated altercation cost the life of a man who was gunned down in sitio San Pedro, barangay Duljo-Fatima yesterday morning.
Andres Yuman, alias "Negro," a resident of Figueroa Street, barangay San Nicolas died moments after he was shot by an unidentified person with an undetermined caliber of firearm.
PO3 Henry Orbiso of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office told The Freeman that the victim, who was reportedly drunk, had a heated argument with someone and challenged everyone to a fistfight the night before.
Orbiso said that yesterday morning, Yuman passed by the area and engaged in a short heated argument with two persons, one of whom immediately opened fire and hit him in the armpit.
He said the victim told his assailant "ayaw do, ayaw do" and even managed to run for a few meters before he collapsed.
Although they believed the incident stemmed from a personal grudge, police are still conducting a follow up investigation to identify the assailant and his companion. They are also checking the background of the victim.
Orbiso, who said the residents in the area were uncooperative during their investigation, admitted that no witness has come to their office. - Norvie S. Misa
