Provincial Board member Juan Bolo in his resolution said that, "it is but an act of generosity which is highly appreciated not only by the school authorities, but more so of the residents of barangay Manatad that their public elementary school was one of the five beneficiaries in the Visayas area, alone, of a 25-inch Kolin television set with Dream Satellite dish and a digital satellite receiver in line with Operation Damayan's 20th anniversary in public service."
The 307 pupils from grades one to six of the said school also received plastic briefcases containing school supplies, and that parts of 40 new desks were assembled as another donated item to the said school for the "Balik Eskwela Fun Day Year 2" project.
Melandro Mendoza, The Freeman general manager, said Manatad Elementary School was considered as a beneficiary after an ocular inspection last year revealed the school's need for new desks, school items for pupils, and a building to hold the viewing room for the television set and the Dream Satellite equipment.
To accomplish the need for a viewing room, the foundation met with Cebu first district Rep. Eduardo Gullas, Sibonga belonging to his congressional district, to realize the construction of a classroom to house the Dream Satellite unit.
Five schools in the Visayas became recipients of the Dream satellite units as part of the multimedia tools that the Philippine Star gave out to support the call for schools to come up with educational equipment aimed at improving teaching strategies and methodologies.
The facilitating of three out of five units was channeled through the foundation which was given the task to facilitate certain contributions made in response to the dire need of uplifting the quality of public school education through the distribution of tools and equipment in mass coaching.
Other units were given to Tan-awan Elementary School in Tubigon, Bohol and Bitaug Elementary School in Enrique Villanueva, Siquijor. Operation Damayan took charge of facilitating the turnover of the other two sets in Aklan, which is still part of the Visayas area.
