Talisay to put up science hi-school

Talisay would soon put up its own science high school.

The city council unanimously adopted last week the resolution authored by Councilor Richel Bacaltos which seeks the establishment of the Talisay City Science High School in the city.

"The establishment of Talisay City Science High School in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology would provide for a more intensive and advanced secondary education program with special reference to Science and Technology," the resolution states.

Bacaltos said it is the policy of the state that "the educational system should reach out to serve educationally deprived communities to enrich their participation in the community."

The science school, Bacaltos explained, "will be a special school for the more intellectually promising students with curriculum and instructions focused on problem solving approaches, application of scientific methods, and development of their analytical and critical thinking thereby making them productive and participating members of our growing society." - Liv G.
