Lapu-Lapu City would honor local sensation Gabriel "Bonbon" Pumar with P300,000 as incentive for wresting the World Boxing Council International straw weight crown from Tshepo Lefele last March 31 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Pumar dropped by the council yesterday.
The 18-year-old, who resides in barangay Basak, is now listed as the second Filipino with a WBC international title. He joins the elite pack of Filipino world beaters whose members include super featherweight Manny Pacquiao.
Pumar is the seventh Filipino to show off the championship belt formerly worn by brothers Juanito and Ernesto Rubillar, Manny Melchor, Rocky Palma, Zarlit Rodrigo, and Arman dela Cruz.
