NADSU to rap PNP, CITOM for harassment

-
Anthony Pogado, president of the Nagkahiusang Drayber sa Sugbo, yesterday said they are determined to file counter-charges against members of the PNP Traffic Division and CITOM enforcers following the operation Monday night along Osmeña boulevard which he tagged a "form of harassment".

Pogado said they will be asking ABS-CBN Cebu to give them video footages of the operation relative to the controversial city ordinance banning the entry of Mandaue public utility jeepneys from plying General Maxilom Avenue and Osmeña Boulevard.

"Klaro man kaayo sa video footages kun giunsa mi nila pag-harass," Pogado said, adding that their legal counsels are now preparing both criminal and administrative complaints to be filed before the anti-graft office.

Pogado said they were preoccupied yesterday with the posting of bail after two of their members - Dennis Tapilot and Wilmer Alcontin - were arrested for direct assault.

"Siguro kun mahuman na mi pag-areglar nila sa pag-piyansa, amo ipa-korasyon ang duha ug mosumbalik gyud mi og kiha nila," Pogado said.

Jennifer Alvizo, spokesperson of another PUJ operators group in Mandaue, said she can identify the police officer who dragged her while defending her members during the incident last Monday.

"Akong angkonon nga nakahingalan gyud ko og buang nila tungod ang pamaagi sa ilang pagdakop dili sab maayo," Alvizo said.

Pogado added they will still continue to ply the General Maxilom Avenue and Osmeña Boulevard route despite the aggressive campaign of the city.

"Dili gyud mi moundang ani hangtod dili ni ma-resolve sa city government. Kadtong insidente last Monday pasiuna lang to ug posible mograbe ni," Pogado said.

A total of four PUJs were impounded by CITOM during the incident last Monday. In an earlier interview, CITOM executive officer Arnel Tancinco said the traffic management office will not adopt a maximum tolerance policy against PUJs from Mandaue City that violate the Cebu City ordinance prohibiting them from entering certain city streets. - Ramil V.
