Gwen vows vigilance vs. "Sugbuak" bills

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said she will never let her guard down when it comes to the pending move to split the existing Province of Cebu into three more provinces.

The governor said she already expected the resurrection of the move to push for the passage of the three pending bills in the House of Representatives.

"Giingnan ta na bitaw mo. I will never let my guard down... because greed like evil never really goes away but hides itself and bides its time until it can once again rear its very ugly head," she said.

"And now you're seeing its ugly head once again," she added.

The governor explained that had she not been downed by fever the same day that the scheduled committee hearing was conducted, she would have wanted to personally attend it. Her father and Capitol consultant, former governor Pablo "Pabling" Garcia, represented her instead in the said hearing.

Despite her on-and-off fever, Garcia was in Camotes Island over the weekend for the Suroy Suroy Sugbu, a program of the Provincial Government in partnership with the local government units and other corporate sponsors, to promote the different towns of Cebu as tourist destinations. - Cristina C.
