Initial investigation led by SPO2 Ronald Almazan revealed that Carcuevas was stabbed to death after she shouted for help when she noticed the suspect inside her house. The suspect fled immediately after the incident.
However, Insp. Vicente Velasquez, the town's officer in charge, told The Freeman that they were able to arrest the suspect 9 a.m. yesterday and identified him as a certain Jonathan Pelago, 24, a former utility worker at the municipal hall, also a resident of the place.
Velasquez revealed that the suspect, who is a close relative of the victim was arrested in a follow-up operation, hiding at his residence just across the victim's house.
Velasquez explained that the suspect gained entry at the main door of the variety store, and that they are looking at two possible motives of the incident.
