City infra group gets rid of ugly "spaghetti" wires

-
The Technical Infrastructure Committee of the Cebu City government has gotten rid of "spaghetti wires" in six areas in the city.

The streets of P. del Rosario (from corner Osmeña Blvd. up to Junquera, from corner D. Jakosalem up to Imus barangay hall), Gen. Maxilom Ave. (from corner M.J. Cuenco Ave. up to corner Gorordo, from corner D. Jakosalem up to Redemptorist Church and beside Robinson's Mall) and Osmeña Blvd. (from RR Landon going to Cebu City Sports Complex) are now free from unsightly spaghetti wires since the committee started the project last October 27.

The committee planned to totally rid the city of unsightly spaghetti wires since these are an eyesore and these destroy the city's skyline.

Lindy C. Morrell, vice chairman of TIC said the skyline of Cebu had been rendered ugly with the sight of dangling utility companies' service lines that hang cluttered, spoiling the view over the city's thoroughfares.

When fires break out, Morell said, the fire trucks have great difficulty in entering affected areas because of the dangling wires.

Among the members of the committee are VECO, PLDT, Sky Cable, Globelines, Bayantel, Eastern Telecom, PT and T, CITOM, City Engineer's Office.

PLDT senior manager Vicente Pesayco III said this activity will end only until all these unbundled wires will be bundled. - Mitchelle P. Calipayan
