Man slays would-be killer

A man who allegedly tried to kill his brother-in-law ended up dead by the latter's hand in barangay, Carmen, Toledo City, Sunday evening.

Hermogenes Bacus, 21, killed Jaime Narvasa with the same 18-inch bolo Narvasa allegedly used to try and kill him -after pulling it out of his own bleeding face.

PO2 Roel Suquib said Narvasa and Bacus had long hated each other. It was learned that Bacus' younger sister was the live-in partner of Narvasa. When their son drowned in a river Narvasa blamed his live-in partner for the tragedy and hit her on the head.

Her relatives filed a case against Narvasa and he threatened to kill all her relatives.

Last Sunday evening, Narvasa allegedly stabbed Bacus in the head with a bolo while he slept in his house. Bacus was awakened to see the grisly sight of the bolo sticking out from his face and pulled it out to take his revenge.

Bacus chased Narvasa who stumbled outside his yard and stabbed him several times. Bacus voluntarily surrendered to the police after the incident.

Meanwhile, in Liloan town, four men stabbed a 29-year-old man who was on his way home to barangay Yati, last Sunday dawn after attending a benefit dance.

Rosario Yulo told Liloan police that her brother Carlito was stabbed and bludgeoned with a rock. He was rushed to Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center where he died a few hours later.

SPO1 Claudio Castro Jr. said Rosario claimed that on their way to the hospital the victim said one of his attackers was a certain Emmanuel Ocampo, alias "Eman". The police went to the area but have yet to produce witnesses. - Norvie S. Misa, Correspondent
