A carpenter was killed by his neighbor in sitio Upper La Guerta, barangay Lahug, Cebu City, early dawn yesterday, after being stabbed in the right portion of his abdomen.
Roberto Nedia, 27, a resident of the place, was allegedly stabbed by brothers Regalo "Galo" Alforque and Ruben, both of legal age, and residents of the place.
Investigation revealed that the victim was fetched by his live-in partner Erlinda Romero, 29, at the basketball court of their neighborhood after she learned from the victim's friend, a certain Rey, that the victim had just been mauled after a drinking session.
She found the victim drunk and helped him back to their house, but she said that along the way the alleged assailants followed them and attacked Nedia with a knife, prompting her to run and ask for help from her neighbors.
Together with the victim's sister identified only as a certain "Inday", Romero returned to the place where she left her live-in partner and they found the victim lying on the grassy portion of the place sprawled on the ground with a stab wound in the right portion of his abdomen.
The elements of Mabolo Police and barangay tanods of Lahug conducted hot pursuit operation but they were too late to arrest the alleged assailants who fled after the incident.
A follow-up investigation is going on to determine the motive behind the killing and the arrest of the suspects. - Norvie S. Misa, Correspondent
