Edwin Bayno, 37, of A. Lopez is now being treated at the Cebu City Medical Center after a fellow inmate, Thadeo Camacho, 20, a former errand boy at the Theft and Robbery Section of the Cebu City Police Office, stabbed him following a confrontation.
JO1 Edwin Monsalud, BBRC spokesman, said the victim ordered a cup of coffee from the suspect early yesterday. But since the suspect did not immediately follow his order, the victim boxed him several times in the head and pointed an improvised ice pick at the suspect.
Monsalud said Camacho told him that he could no longer take Bayno's maltreatment against him after he became his personal aide in June.
He said the suspect took the ice pick that Bayno hid under his pillow, followed the victim outside their "kubol" and stabbed him in the collarbone area, head and breast.
The victim was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center but was transferred later by his family to the Chong Hua Hospital.
As of yesterday afternoon, the victim was already in stable condition but he was again transferred to the CCMC since inmates are not allowed confinement at private hospitals. - Flor Z. Perolina
