The Mabolo Police arrested Victor Solomon, an engineering student of one of the universities in the city, after the management of Halo disco bar reported the incident.
The establishment's employees, Jeff de Guzman and Richie Pulido, were the ones who initially held Solomon before turning him over to the police.
Solomon, reportedly drunk at the time, was charged with malicious mischief for damaging the equipment worth P21,000 for no apparent reason or provocation at all.
But Solomon, in an interview with Mabolo Police investigator Elvis Anunciado, claimed it was never intentional as he just accidentally hit with his hand the bottle of beer causing the contents to pour over the equipment.
"Wala niya tuyoa nasabdan lang sa iyang kamot ang beer nayabo. Ang management niingon man sad nga wala tuyoa galing kay duna man guy damage. Dili na motingog ang player (He said he did not do it on purpose as he nudged over the beer with his hands. The management also said it was not intentional but then there was damage done. The player would not function anymore)," Anunciado said.
Anunciado said the management is willing to enter into an amicable settlement with Solomon but if the latter fails to pay the damages, it would be compelled to file charges against the Nigerian. - Ryan P. Borinaga
