Cebu, Korean police ink MOA for peace and order

-
The Korean police and the Regional Police Office entered into a memorandum of agreement last Tuesday for a partnership in the maintenance of peace and order and for future training abroad.

The Korean delegation, led by Senior Supt. General Sun Ho Cho, Commissioner of the Chungnam Police Regency of the Republic of Korea, dropped by Camp Sergio Osmena Tuesday afternoon.

According to Regional Police Director Eduardo Gador, the partnership includes exchanges of vital information that would affect the peace and order situation of the two countries and training and visits in the future for the enhancement of both police units.

Gador said there have been constant invitations for the police in the region to visit and observe their counterparts in Chungman but these were turned down because of the austerity measures being observed in the country.

"There are many Koreans in Central Visayas so they would like to protect their nationals here. Ato sad naay daghang mga Filipino didto so we can now easily keep in touch with them if we have problems," Gador said.

Gador said the ongoing problem of Koreans in Lapu-lapu City who, every now and then, turn against each other due business rivalry will also be addressed through the partnership.

The Korean Police aside from dropping by Camp Sergio Osmena last Tuesday also visited Tagbilaran and Cebu cities last Wednesday.

At the CCPO, the delegation according to acting-city director Melvin Gayotin was impressed by the concept of the two bust buses or the mobile police stations which are presently detailed in crime-prone areas in the metropolis.

Gayotin said there might be donations coming in because one of the reasons why the delegation visited CCPO was to see how and what kind of assistance it could extend. - Ryan P. Borinaga
