Suicide eyed in man's death after fight with wife

A 46-year-old man was believed to have committed suicide inside a room of his rented house in Sitio Panangatan, barangay Bawo, Sogod town Friday evening following a fight with his wife.

The man was identified as Fulgencio Avila, 46, a resident of Pulang Yuta, Danao City.

Police investigation revealed that prior to the incident, Avila and his wife Thelma were seen by neighbor Beethoven Padin having a fight inside the house.

Moments later, Thelma, 43, emerged from the house with stab wounds in different parts of her body asking for help. Neighbors immediately brought her to a nearby hospital.

Avila then locked himself inside the room, and when the police arrived, they discovered the bloodied body of Avila sprawling on the floor with a long bolo stuck at the base of his neck.

The police believed Avila committed suicide after stabbing his wife. As alleged, there was no one else inside the house except the couple.- Norvie S. Misa, UV Journalism Intern
