The decision to have one child or more should be based on your lifestyle; your circumstances and how much you think you can cope with more children overall. Weighing out the pros and cons, there may be a few things to consider. But no one else apart from you and your partner can make this decision.
One Child
1. Many women these days choose to have a career (which is very important to some) over having a huge family. A successful career just seems to work better for some as opposed to having one child after the other.
2. Your child won't need any special attention from the parents when they've got all the attention they can possibly need. In short, there won't be any sibling rivalry, that's just non-existent.
3. It will cost you less since there will be more money to spend on for family activities and you also might be able to max out once in a while. You won't have to think about the extra costs of making things fair for one or the other. There won't be any tough decisions whatsoever.
More Than One
1. Your child definitely needs someone to play with and this in fact should keep him or her busy and entertained most especially when the age gap isn't too big. Plus, you may even consider your sibling an automatic best friend who you can forever trust.
2. Clothes and other beautiful items you showered your first born with may be handed down to the next and not need not be stored up in a room and be put to waste. Why get all these lovely things to only put them aside after a few months?
3. When you grow old, you will want to be surrounded with a big family (I've heard this line several times from different grandmas and grandpas). When your children get married and have kids of their own, the family will just tend to keep growing and growing. There can only be more love and laughter around the house!
4. Having more than one child will make every parent realise that all children are different and that there isn't a "right" way to teach and raise each of them. Different ways of raising children makes it exciting and even more so interesting as you watch them grow up.
