Narrowing down the best chair picks taken from polls and reviews from parents at www.babycentre.com is a list of baby chairs that have made it to the top 5. I've looked closely into it and have learned about its essentials, safety and costs, which I reckon is important when making a purchase.
Stokke Tripp Trapp
Q: How long is a baby a baby for? A: Sadly, only for a short period of time. But this "forever" chair, a wooden highchair that doubles as a convertible can be used from 6-months old onwards, making such an "investment purchase" that many parents have said that they'd be happy to pay for it the second time around. No wonder it's an award-winning chair that comes in a dozen colours to choose from!
Tip: Instead of buying the Stokke Tripp Trapp attachment at an extra cost, I currently use the Totseat chair harness (www.totseat.com), which is also known as the washable, adjustable and squashable chair to attach to my son's Stokke Tripp Trapp - and its just brilliant! As of this writing, I have found that the Stokke Tripp Trapp and Totseat chair ranges are only sold at Rustans and Mothercare stores.
Fisher-Price Space Saver
It's a small chair that can easily fit in small spaces but this is such a wonderful product that attaches securely to any kitchen chair, which can also be easily cleaned without having to take the whole item apart. Babycentre says that, "we like that the chair's fabric is easily removed for washing and that when the child no longer requires the tray, the Space Saver is all the booster you need". Plus, the cost isn't exceedingly high!
Graco Contempo Highchair
Offering a wide range of parent and toddler friendly features, this item folds down flat-ish, which can easily be stored in most places at home. "Features include extra seat covers, removable trays, removable toys and adjustable multiple height positions". Also note that the Graco Contempo comes fully assembled.
Boon Flair
This pedestal highchair with a pneumatic lift is the most expensive chair on this list! A posh way of saying, "it adjusts to the right height for your table". Making clean up very easy, this sleek-looking chair also comes with two tray covers that are dishwasher safe.
Inglesina Zuma
"To have this chair is to love this chair". It isn't the most popular one among the others on this list. But a plus to the Inglesina Zuma is that it’s a chair that is very sturdy and can easily be wheeled from one room to the next. Plus, it also comes with a big tray and eight different seating positions. This chair makes a fancy option but at a reasonable price.
