Pagadian Officials welcome new hotel

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines  – Officials of Zamboanga peninsula have lauded the new addition of the accommodation facilities for its growing visitors with the grand opening on October 22 of Mardale Hotel and Convention Center, so far the tallest building in this city.

No less than Rep. Cesar Jalosjos of Zamboanga del Norte and Mayor Sammy Co of this capital city graced the grand inauguration and blessing of the hotel owned and operated by Engr. Edmario Revelo and wife Marlyn Nadala-Revelo.  

Mayor Co said that the Mardale Hotel shows that “more to come” in apparent reference to tourists and visitors.

For his part, Rep. Jalosjos said this part of the peninsula is booming as can be gleaned from the mushrooming of hotels and accommodations to cater to the needs of the visitors in this region 9.

Both officials welcomed this development and expressed appreciation to the Revelo family for embarking on this huge investment.

Despite ventures into the tourism industry, this city remains hugely dependent on agriculture as its primary economic resource, including the production of rice, corn, coconut, fruit and root crops. Fishery plays a vital role in the economy with a wide variety of fish species and crustaceans; seaweed culture farming is flourishing in waters off the bay while fishponds of milkfish, prawns and crabs also thrive, including deep-sea fishing into Sulu Sea and South China Sea.

The city boasts of its natural resources such as rivers, springs waterfalls, beaches and hill-top views for tourism come-ons with well paved roads and still expanding seaport and airport infrastructures.

The Revelo family, who are into construction and low-cost housing said that the hotel will always serve and accommodate visitors with utmost care and respect for their enjoyable stay at the hotel.

Both, Edmario Revelo, who is a Zamboanga native and Marlyn Nadala Revelo of Carmen, Bohol, said they hope they could be a contributor to the progress and development of the city. (FREEMAN)
