CEBU, Philippines - TGIFridays, an American icon for casual dining, has rolled out its new menu that is a feast to the buds – the Sugba-an at TGIFridays, a choice of grilled Cebuano-inspired dishes.
These selections are meant to whet the appetite of a Cebuano foodie who prefers a grilled munch. This is surprisingly new to this food chain and the Cebu branch exclusively hosts this kind of feast to simply address the demand.
Launched on August 15, Sugba-an at TGIFridays is collective name for menu options, namely Garlic Baked or Cajun Creamy Baked Scallops, Grilled Blue Marlin Fillet, Stuffed Grilled Cuttlefish Teriyaki, Grilled Chicken, Sizzling Pork Ribs with special barbecue sauce, and Hacienda Style Grilled Pork Belly, all specially concocted for the Cebuanos by Friday’s corporate chef George and Cebuano chef, no less, Chef Rey Huedas. Pegged below P400 price mark, these new additions come in big portions, as usual, good for sharing – a trademark Fridays is most famous for.
Regulars Cocoi Paster, Iya Cañete, Mauie Rabanes and Aljie Cabale recommend the Trio Sugba Sampler (in photo) which is a dish of grilled blue marlin fillet, chicken and pork belly served with their signature Jack Daniel’s sauce, vinegar dip and fried potatoes, to get the best of everything local. And since we are accustomed to visiting restaurants specializing in char-grilled fares, the group however shared that a visit at TGIFridays is worth it because of its upbeat ambiance that highlights the pop culture trend. Also, with an interactive bar in one corner, diners who wish to cap the day with booze need not proceed to another venue since their full bar has the right mix. The monthly themes also perk up the ambiance as the restaurant dons quirky yet fun decors, as well as servers who pull off attention-snatcher costumes.
