Dancing The Rhythm Of Summer

CEBU, Philippines - With summer fast approaching, parents and children alike are starting to plan out different getaways or activities to make the summer fun and enjoyable, ensuring that every day of the two-month vacation is something to look forward to.

Moms and Dads, if your children are interested in dancing, and you want a productive summer for them, it is a great opportunity to enroll them in a ballet school.

Ballet is a formalized type of performance dance that integrates different foundational techniques of various dance styles. Ballet has been in the history of performing arts for decades now and preparation is progressive, challenging the dancer to become better and more developed every time he/she continues the training.

Ballet Academy of Cebu or BAC is founded by Ms. Christine Samonte. Ms. Samonte’s technical expertise as a former ballerina in Cebu, Manila and United States (USA) is an evidence that Ballet Academy offers, if not the best, one of the finest ballet trainings in town.

Ms. Samonte will produce the BAC’s Summer Intensive Workshop for 2010. Daily classes will be from Mondays to Fridays for six (6) weeks that will start this coming April 5 to May 15, 2010.

Programs in Ballet Academy of Cebu involve Classical Ballet and the Vaganova Russian technique. The Vaganoval Russian technique is a strict method of teaching the classical ballet technique which produced the best professional ballet dancers all over the world. Making it more meaningful, Ms. Samonte combines the workshop with her expertise in Jazz, New York Style, and Hip Hop movements she trained for in Dallas, Texas.

Since most ballet dancers start their training at a very young age, Ballet Academy also offers a very special program for kids aging three (3) to seven (7) or eight (8) years old. The basics of ballet will be taught to this age group through nursery songs. Classes are also combined with hip hop dances and the young students are taught to go up on the stage by themselves and perform like little ballerinas.

The beginning of classical ballet technique using classical music in Ballet Academy starts at 8 or 9 years old, and then the student progresses into the advanced level. The intermediate and advanced levels will include different variations from classical ballets, pointe and partnering with boys such as pirouettes (turns) and lifts.

Ballet Academy always emphasize that ballet is fun and this kind of learning environment can establish good camaraderie and interpersonal skills among its students. While teaching the art of classical ballet, Ballet Academy also inculcates discipline, so students don’t just develop their grace and posture, rhythm and physical strength but their creativity, responsibility and focus as well.

To assess the progress of their students, the Academy organizes a recital which will fall on the 15th of May. The recital includes excerpts from classical ballets like the Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty which are adjusted for all levels. The recital will also showcase the students’ learnings in their Vaganova Ballet classes (for all levels) and Hip Hop or Contemporary dances (for all levels).

Let your child dance his/her way through the rhythm of summer! To inquire more about the programs that Ballet Academy of Cebu has to offer, you may call their landline number (63.32)254-5536 or drop them a visit in Andres Abellana Cor. Bacalio, Guadalupe, Cebu City, Cebu.
