Viva Pit Senyor!

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor S. YNCLINO -

Happy Fiesta to all our Cebuano friends and relations! Here in Lake Forest, we also had a little celebration. Last Sunday, we had a procession to honor the Santo Nino. Not much of a revelry but just a short procession around St. Michael’s Abbey assisted by the Norbertine Brothers and the Abbey’s nuns, one of whom comes from Cebu. All the devotees brought with them the image of the Santo Nino in different hues – black, white and even blue in shade. The event was partly sponsored by the members of the South Chapter, Area 2 of the Most Holy Rosary Federation of Filipino Rosary Group of Orange County.

The day before, the federation had a Mass and induction of new officers and this was culminated with a dinner and program where we met a lot of the members from Luzon—the Tagalog-speaking Pinoys. It was a wholesome affair where we enjoyed the company of so many Filipinos who are now citizens of Uncle Sam.

Our dear friend Don Ramon Logarta just came back from Cebu to visit relatives and had business transactions with a client in the Queen City of the South. While in Cebu, he visited a friend Dr. J. Zubiri. After so much talk and with the convincing power of the doctor, Don Ramon succumbed to his advice, and presto, our friend is now more handsome and young-looking. Last week, Ramon invited my cousin Loly Casas and this scribe to lunch and dinner in Pechanga, the biggest casino and resort in California. How lucky this Ramon was, after winning so much in Waterfront Cebu, he made it again in Pechanga. Wow, you lucky guy!!!
