Carmen's way of presenting the "eskrima" Sinulog in its traditional tribal form complete with body paint and soot it carried on to date, making it unique in a sense that it deviates from the current practice of its city counterpart.
This year, local and open categories compete, where locals and visiting contingents rival in each category, regardless of the complexity of a free interpretation or Sinulog-based themes. In the offing was a hundred thousand pesos for both categories where Barangay Dawis del Norte and Compostela National High School won in the local and open categories, respectively.
Gracing the occasion was the first lady governor herself and the panel of judges, mostly representatives of the Sinulog Foundation, Inc.
Carmen owes its great success through the Holy Child - an age-old devotion originating from early Spanish occupation on the beaches of what is now Barangay Luyang, where belief on the Divine Intervention protected its coastal waters from Moro invasion and natural calamities as told in written accounts among the ancient pages of Carmen's history.
Long live, Carmen!
