Sandwich releases contra tiempo under Polyeast records

CEBU, Philippines - Being one of the few acts that made the transition from an indie to a major label and got better and better in the process, SANDWICH is back in the studio and gearing up for the promo tour of their 9-track album titled CONTRA TIEMPO released by Polyeast Records last January 2011.

As the rock quintet follows 2008’s ‘<S> Marks The Spot’, CONTRA TIEMPO is Sandwich’ sixth album since they came into the rock scene in 1998. Headed by a former Eraserheads member Raimund Marasigan (vocals), Sandwich is back with their kick off single “Lakad” which represents a promising step forward for the album. “Lakad” is now playing on local radio stations and will soon release the single’s music video as directed by Jason Magbanua.

In December 2009, Sandwich released a brand-new single to help and inspire our typhoon victims through the song titled “Putik,” which is also included in the new CD. The album shows impressive range: while all of the songs are radio-ready rockers, they span a wide variety of musical elements with other titles include “Lapit,” “Takbo,” “Sugatan,” “Stranded sa Airport,” “Sulputin,” “Bisikleta,” and the brand-new radio hit single “Pera, Pera.”

Sandwich signed with their home label EMI Philippines (now Polyeast Records) in 2006 for their fourth overall release and major label debut called Five On The Floor catapulted them to the top of the OPM charts with the songs Sugod, Sunburn, DVDx and Walang Kadala-dala. Then Sandwich released the 2008’s <S> Marks The Spot and spawned four hit singles like Procrastinator, Betamax, Selos and Manila.

Sandwich are Raimund Marasigan (lead vocals / keyboards); Myrene Academia (bass guitar); Mong Alcaraz (guitars); Diego Castillo (guitars) and Mike Dizon (drums). (FREEMAN)
