Reggae concert to raise funds for missionaries of the poor

CEBU, Philippines - Reggae music fans will move to a new and amazing beat as an out-of-this-world concert will hit the Philippines. Multi awarded and world-renowned Father Ho Lung and Friends will hold the “Praise Him” concert tour on February to March 2011 in Manila, Naga City and Cebu.

Father Ho Lung composes the music for the concert that includes over 300 compositions ranging from Reggae, Calypso, Ska, Soca, Mento, Jazz, Ballads and even Opera. The singers are young, talented Jamaicans who provide emotionally powerful presentations mixed with humour and informality.

Father Ho Lung and Friends have been performing for 27 years, presenting excerpts from the Bible as well as modern religious musical dramas that have received numerous awards from the Jamaican Music Industry.

All profits of the concert will go to the Missionaries of the Poor, which Father Ho Lung founded in 1981, a community of religious priests and brothers dedicated to a common spirituality and charism of service to the least in society – the poor and disadvantaged especially the destitute homeless. The order has over 550 brothers serving in nine missions around the world.

Here in Cebu, the Missionaries of the Poor has the Little Lambs Center (LILAC) in Sawang Calero, a permanent home for the destitute, physically and mentally handicapped children, and receives those with cerebral palsy, autism and Down’s syndrome. The crippled, lamed and those with slow progress in their mental behavior are also being welcomed.

The “Praise Him” concert goes beyond fundraising as every show is evangelistic in nature, reaching out to large audiences and bringing to them the Good News of Jesus Christ through an entertaining and family-friendly venue.

You, your family and friends are called to join! “Praise Him” concerts will be held in Manila (School shows): Feb. 12 & 13, 2011; Manila: Feb.17th-20th, 2011; Naga: Feb. 25th-27th, 2011 Cebu: March 3rd-6th, 2011.
