Cebu @ 440 theme by Asian Troubadours

CEBU, Philippines -  August 2009 marks the 440th year celebration of the province of Cebu. And the theme song that will be played all throughout the month-long celebration will be Cebu 440 Overture, an original composition by Nendel Endrina, and played by the Asian Troubadours.

Asian Troubadours also top-billed the Opening Salvo for the triple event—the celebration of the Cebu Province’s 440th Anniversary, the start of the Mandaue Business Month of the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and the Mandaue City 40th Charter Day celebration. The concert was dubbed as “Cebu is ONE at 440”.

The event was an extravaganza show featuring Visayan songs, Visayan Dances and Visayan Fashion at the Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu last August 3, 2009.

Asian Troubadours also played eight Visayan songs and 4 Russian Classic songs at the Philippine-Russian Business Summit at the Cebu International Convention Center last August 7, 2009 attended by delegates from Russia and businessmen from the entire Philippines.

Asian Troubadours released the latest album dubbed as the TIMELESS Visayan and Russian Classics: Cebu 440th Anniversary Commemorative CD. The Visayan songs in the album are Cebu 440 Overture by Nendel Endrina; Usahay by Nitoy Gonzales; Matud Nila and Pasayawa Ko Day by Ben Zubiri; Pobreng Alindahaw by Angelita Pasamba; Rosas Pandan by Domingo “Minggoy” Lopez; Si Filemon, Si Filemon (A Cebuano Folk Song); and Baleleng by Wassan Surban. The Russian songs are Two Guitars (A Russian Folk Song); Waltz from the Sleeping Beauty Ballet by Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky; Song of the Indian Guest from the Opera Sadko by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov; and Polovetsian Dance by Alexander Borodin.
