A toss between basketball and showbiz for Angelo Patrimonio
October 6, 2006 | 12:00am
Angelo Patrimonio, the eldest son of four-time PBA Alvin Patrimonio, is no longer as shy as he used to. Angelo, now a contract star of ABS-CBN, turned 17 last September 21. Since being introduced to the press last June, he became a little more confident. But he still talks in his low voice, which at times makes him inaudible to hear.
The 17-year-old young man, who towers with his six-feet-tall height, doesn't hide the fact that he easily became well-known because of his illustrious father. He's a potential basketball and tennis superstar but he chose to be bitten by the acting bug. Angelo was introduced as one of the newest contract stars of Star Magic, together with newcomers AJ Perez and Victor Basa. He performs regularly at ASAP Full Circle and Star Magic Presents.
Angelo admits he has too much to learn about showbiz and that he's taking his sweet time. He's also busy doing a series of acting workshops.
He's now a junior high school student at San Beda College High School, where he is a member of the Team B in basketball. Of course, Angelo is aware that his dad is considered as one of the superstars of basketball. And he would like to follow in his footsteps.
But when the opportunity came to Angelo for him to be in showbiz, he grabbed the chance. He's still unsure if he would take on a career in basketball or be serious with his career in showbiz, as he's still also honing his skills in the former. At the same time, he is discovering what talent he has that he can develop for a career in showbiz. In due time, Angelo would decide if he would be happy shooting the hoops or aiming for the stars.
Having started in showbiz only last June, Angelo has yet to fully adjust to the new world that has been opened his way. But he's slowly getting the hang of it.
Do you have a crush in showbiz? "Shaina Magdayao," was his shy reply. Regine dedicates 20th year concert to gifted kids
Wyeth proudly supports Regine Velasquez's concert "Twenty," as Asia's Songbird celebrates her twentieth year in the music industry. In "Twenty," Regine performs the unforgettable songs that made her one of the country's most revered pop music icons. Regine treats her audience to a collection of songs from the last two decades-the highlights of her successful career that helped catapult OPM into the international music scene.
Regine is a strong advocate of nurturing the gift in young children, as her father also trained her at an early age to become the talented musical artist she is today. Joining her in this concert are violinists Christian Tan, Paulina Gutierrez and Joseph Valdez, cellist Pocholo Gutierrez and saxophonist Jacob Sarreal. They are Wyeth's ProGifted kids, highly talented individuals who have proven their special musical abilities at a young age.
This year also marks Wyeth's 20th year of celebrating Giftedness. To show her support, Regine collaborates with Wyeth as she lends her voice to a commemorative song entitled "The Gift Inside of You." The song will be launched at her "Twenty" concert on October 13 and 14 at the Araneta Coliseum. Sam Milby tackles his first ever drama role
Sam Milby will have his hands full in facing the cameras as he handles his first ever dramatic role in the new ABS-CBN series titled "Maging Sino Ka Man" where he gets to tangle with acting veterans like John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, and Anne Curtis who have all proven their mettle in drama.
The last time we talked with Sam, he admitted being nervous in tackling his dramatic role in the series. "I don't know how John Lloyd and Bea do it, I mean, real shed tears when told by the director," he says. "For me, it takes time. I am surprised how they are able to do it yet for them, it seemed so easy."
Sam is surprised to be given such a heavy role by their director. It's now up to him how to make himself shine in that role. Or be eclipsed by his more talented co-stars. Young actress still not over ex-BF
Blind item: The young actress still can't forget the young actor who became her boyfriend. Even if she had been telling people she dumped him because the young actor had been unfaithful, the young actress even reconciled with the young actor to the shock of her mother who didn't approve of the young actor as her daughter's boyfriend.
The two have called it quits anew after having reconciled for a few months. And as usual, the young actress took again to task the young actor as the culprit as to why the relationship did not last long.
But is it true that it was not the young actress who dumped the young actor? Rather, it was the young actor who called it quits. According to a source, the young actor said, "I can't take it anymore. She's so possessive."
Still according to a source, the young actress continues to send messages and calls her ex-boyfriend on the phone up to now. But the young actor no longer bothers to answer her nor reply to her text messages.
