New mom Steffi Aberasturi is 'still slaying'
CEBU, Philippines — It’s back to the grind for Cebuana beauty queen and new mother Steffi Aberasturi, who made her first major public appearance as the host of Miss Universe Philippines Cebu 2025 on December 18. This marked her return to the spotlight following the birth of her daughter, Quinn Olivia, in November.
“My husband (Karl Arcenas) is not here with me because he’s caring for our baby right now,” she told The FREEMAN after the show. “I am thankful for him because he’s very supportive and still wants me to have my moment. It’s hard to manage my time now because of my baby, but here I am, still slaying and hosting!”
Aberasturi, 30, was expecting a difficult labor, but said she found solace in prayer.
“I anticipated that the pain would be worse, but that day, God helped me, and it didn’t feel as painful as I thought actually,” she said.
Once unsure if motherhood was in the cards for her, Aberasturi shared that patience and a strong support system made the process even more fulfilling.
“I never imagined myself being a mom, but now that I am, it requires a lot of patience. I am thankful that this is God’s gift to me. It takes a lot of support to be a mom, and I am grateful for the people who were there for me,” she said.
In her birth announcement on Instagram, Aberasturi wrote: “Every little coo, every tiny smile, every moment spent with her has given my life a whole new meaning. I now understand how precious and fragile life truly is, and it’s given me a deeper sense of purpose than I’ve ever known.”
Leading up to Quinn Olivia’s birth, Aberasturi delighted her supporters with a series of stunning maternity photoshoots she posted on social media. The concepts ranged from an elegant red dress that showcased her baby bump to a colorful Barbie and Ken-inspired set featuring her husband.
“Those who helped me during those shoots were the same team who supported me during Miss Universe Philippines 2021. They organized these shoots for me, and I am thankful for their creative imagination,” she shared.
With the Miss Universe organization now allowing mothers, both single and married, to compete, not a few are wondering if Aberasturi might consider joining again.
“A lot of people asked me that. Since there’s no age limit and mothers can join, I am not closing doors for now. Let’s wait and see,” she responded.
Regardless of her decision, Aberasturi expressed support for the rule change that allows mothers to join Miss Universe. “In this diverse world we live in now, it’s great for mothers to be out there, speak their truth, and let their voices be heard,” she said.
When asked whether she would allow Quinn Olivia to follow in her footsteps as a potential beauty queen in the future, she replied, “I’m not going to stop her. If she wants to, she can go for it.”
