Golden Acorn vows to offer complete marketing package

- Grace Melanie L. Lacamiento - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - “An acorn is a seed of one of the biggest trees – the oak tree. We, ourselves as consultants, would plant the seeds of success for the clients that we have. We may not be there with the company anymore but we will see how the seeds will grow. We plant the seed and nurture it so it will last.”

This was the birth concept of Golden Acorn Market Builders, a marketing company with Cerwin Eviota and Joseph James Cornejo as managing consultants.

Eviota said in an interview with The Freeman that the strong performance of the peso against the dollar is the best indicator of a good marketing industry since it corresponds to the growth of the service sector.

To take advantage of the vibrant development of such sector, he added that companies will need more of an effective marketing, thus the two decided to join forces.

He noted that a business owner who focuses more on operations has the tendency to market his products according to his own point of view and not how the real market sees it.

“With us as an external company, we view on how it is outside. We’re not just consultants; we make our hands dirty which make us different from classical marketing agencies. We set our own standards and parameters for our clients to be guided accordingly,” he continued.

Aside from the total marketing package which includes the 4 P’s in marketing such as product development, pricing, promotion and place, he cited that Golden Acorn also caters to business and organizational development, project generation and management, business reengineering, public relations, events and perceptions management and issues and crisis management.

With a total of five clients since they had started early this year, he revealed that they consider time as an anticipated struggle since as hands-on professional, they are physically present for every project.

Cornejo, on the other hand, said that the growth of a business is always dependent in its marketing strategies.

He added that a pro-active approach on how an entrepreneur markets his business would include observing and learning what would fit the changing needs of his customers and identifying what makes them keep coming back.

“Marketing is a dynamic and ambivalent world. No one can claim a patent or right that he is a marketing guru. It is a never-ending learning process. You need to have common sense to have a well-grounded marketing strategy,” he continued.
