CEBU, Philippines - Seventeen business chambers in the country will convene on June 24-26 at the City Sports Club Cebu for the 19th Visayas Area Business Conference (VABC) of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and ndustry.
Among the chamber-delegates are those from Bacolod , Iloilo , Bohol, Samar, Dumaguete, Siquijor, Mandaue, Negros Oriental, Guimaras Antiquie, Aklan, Capiz, Boracay, Leyte, Eatern Samar, Consolacion and Cebu.
VABC participants will have a chance to get acquainted with fellow delegates on the first day of the convention through the “PCCI Visayas Circuit—Business-in-Golf Tournament” at the Cebu Country Club. Simultaneous to the event is the opening of the three-day VABC Exhibit, which will showcase products and services of individuals, companies, or organizations that have made “sustainable development” their way of doing business, at the Ayala Activity Center .
The conference proper will officially open on June 25 with special participation of officials of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), local government units and other organizations.
Topics to be discussed in the plenary sessions include “Sustainability Defined: The Triple Bottom Line Approach;” “Sustainable Power for the Visayas;” “The Road to Sustainable Infrastructure;” and “Corporate Social Responsibility: An Indispensable Component of Sustainable Development.”
The conference will be concluded with the discussion focused on Corporate Social Responsibility as a component of the Global Reporting Initiative social performance indicators, where in best practices on CSR illustrating how this opens doors to sustainable business will be discussed.
