A text ‘website’ for Smart users

Individuals and corporations interested in sharing information with the public will soon be able to create their own interactive text-based "websites" that can be accessed with the use of a Smart GSM cell phone.

"Smart Zed is now developing interactive text sites which are actually websites on purely SMS interface," said Edgardo Bautista, head of product and business development of Smart Communications.

Speaking at the Smart Mobile Clinic for Media held in Cebu last week, Bautista said this interactive text site (ITS) service has unique features and capabilities. For instance, ITS has advanced site database search and search engine that accepts registrations and returns multiple results upon demand.

"These features make for great applications for mobile advertisement pages, directory or personal profile book," Bautista said.

Interactive TextSite works by allowing a subscriber to create his or her own text site and to upload content to it. Information can be anything you want it to be. Other subscribers can then access the information you placed in your text site by using the advanced site database search and search engine called Yohoo.

ITS works like a website. One can create a homepage and several other pages of information united by a single text site address.

The subscriber will then be equipped to browse through sub-pages within a site, select options and search for information within a site or redirect query to other text site address.

"ITS will transform the text environment into a dynamically changing world that resembles the World Wide Web," Bautista said.

Sponsored by Smart Communications, the Mobile Clinic is an innovative customer care service designed to bring Smart closer to its subscribers. These clinics, which also offer product presentations, demos and free phone check-ups, are conducted within the key customers’ premises to handle their sales and after-sales requirements more efficiently

The clinic held in Cebu was attended by members of the media and the IT community.
