Convergys meets 6th-year targets

MANILA, Philippines - Convergys in the Philippines is closing in on an employee population of more than 17,000 today, just six years after hiring its first employee in the country.

The global leader in relationship management said it has met tremendous growth and success both for employees and clients in its years of business in the Philippines.

Since opening its first contact center in Manila in 2003, Convergys has won widespread recognition across the country, most recently receiving the Outstanding Exporter and Outstanding Employer awards at the 2009 PEZA Investors’ Appreciation Day, as well as the BPO Employer of the Year at the 2009 International ICT Awards.

The recognition adds to Convergys’ long list of awards received over the course of six years, further distinguishing the company as the employer of choice in the country. Convergys has also experienced steady growth, occupying 12 contact center facilities in the Philippines — seven located throughout Metro Manila, three in Cebu City, and one each in Bacolod City and Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

Convergys has completed its major five-site expansion in the country with the opening of its newest contact center in San Lazaro, Manila. Located in an integrated leisure and business community near the University Belt, the facility can hold nearly 740 employees in about 47,000 square feet of workspace.

This opening marks the fifth facility Convergys has added throughout the country following its major expansion announcement in May 2008.

Convergys’ new sites include Cebu Asiatown i3, UP TechnoHub, Nuvali Evozone, and Glorietta 5.

The new Glorietta 5 facility, situated in one of the largest shopping districts in the country and in the midst of the premier business district of Makati City, encompasses over 17,000 square meters and can hold some 2,700 employees.

Marife Zamora, Convergys vice president and country manager, together with her leadership team, recently celebrated the company’s anniversary by blowing out candles on six birthday cakes.

“It is amazing to see how far we have come in our Philippine operations since we opened our first facility six short years ago,” said Zamora. “As we celebrate our sixth anniversary, I must thank our employees who have dedicated their time and effort to becoming the best in customer relationship management. I anticipate many more years of continued success.”

“Convergys clients continue to demand the experience and expertise so manifestly present among our Filipino employees to drive their customer service operations,” said Andrea Ayers, Convergys president for customer management.

“We have seen tremendous growth in the Philippines due to the support we receive from all levels of government and because of the quality and commitment of our employees,” Ayers added.

Convergys’ state-of-the-art facilities employ more than 17,000 men and women, providing support via telephone, web-chat, and e-mail for a diverse portfolio of blue chip clients and their customers worldwide.

These customer interactions include a broad range of services from basic credit card welcome and activation to complex case management and technical support in both the business-to-business and business-to-consumer spaces.
