MANILA, Philippines – The Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) has been predicting steady growth for the BPO industry into 2010, and Convergys has helped validate that trend.
A global leader in relationship management, Convergys Corp. has announced the opening of its new Glorietta 5 facility in Makati City.
This opening marks the fourth of five facilities that Convergys has added throughout the country following its major expansion announcement in May 2008.
The new sites that have been opened so far include Convergys’ Cebu Asiatown i3, UP TechnoHub, and Nuvali Evozone, all of which were dedicated by President Arroyo last April.
Situated among one of the largest shopping districts in the country and in the midst of the premier business district of Makati, Convergys’ new state-of-the-art facility encompasses over 17,000 square meters and has the ability to hold some 2,700 employees.
“We are growing exponentially,” said Marife Zamora, Convergys vice president and country manager.
“So far this year, Convergys has opened four new facilities and added over 3,000 jobs to the BPO industry and the Philippine economy. We are well on our way to closing the year with 20,000 employees as announced at our dedication last year,” she said.
“The Philippines continues to be the geography that our clients continue to request and with the opening of this new facility, we will continue to meet the needs of our existing and future clients around the globe,” she added.
At the recent 2009 Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Investors’ Appreciation Day, Convergys won the Outstanding Exporter and Outstanding Employer awards in the Large Enterprise Category, as well as the BPO Employer of the Year at the 2009 International ICT Awards, further distinguishing it from its competitors as the employer of choice in the Philippines.
