NEC develops new compact touch-screen point-of-sale terminal

-

MANILA, Philippines - Amid the crisis and difficulties the local and international economies are experiencing, there are still sectors in the business world that continue to work well in the market.

The retail and food and beverage industries are still a basic demand to many consumers. NEC saw this untapped potential of the retail and F&B market to grow and expand without compromising its efficiency in services.

NEC has developed a new compact touch-screen POS terminal aimed at the retail and food and beverage industries. Through its Philippine subsidiary, NEC Philippines, this innovation was launched in the country.

The NEC TWINPOS3500G1 provides various retail solutions for different industries. It has higher scalability for different kinds of stores. It also supports various kinds of promotions with its dual display structure and thermal printer.

Rhoel Macapagal, business development manager for IT platforms and solutions of NEC Philippines, said companies are given assurance of a POS terminal that is compact in design, reliable, stable and efficient.

The space-saving design of the NEC TWINPOS3500G1 enables the terminal to be installed in small service areas since it occupies 45 percent of the space of conventional POS terminals. Its stylish and small footprint fits various types of retail industries physically and visually.

The spindle-free (HDD-less) storage provides more stable operations. NEC can provide highly durable alternative option for storage device. The 2.5GB flash storage model runs with zero spindle architecture to minimize hardware failures.

Its enhanced hardware durability against varying environments, temperature, water spills and dust makes it a reliable choice for a POS terminal. Users need not worry if water is accidentally spilled on the POS for it will still work. With its fan-less model, it does not draw oily smoke or dust into the POS that can clog the equipment.

It is efficient as it provides low-failure rate and longer OS support. Windows Embedded for Point of Service (WEPOS) supports plug-and-play for retail device peripherals and creates operator and customer interactions.

The industries targeted by the compact touch-screen POS terminal are fast food service, restaurant and hospitality, kiosk and ticketing, and retail and specialty stores.

“The launch of this new product is in line with NEC Philippines’ goal to become more accessible and be able to penetrate the Philippine market through its products and services. NEC recognizes that amid the difficulties in the economy these days, the food and beverage industry continues to flourish,” said NEC Philippines executive vice president Leonardo Santos.

“With this in mind, NEC believes that the TWINPOS3500G1 is cost-effective and can provide exemplary services to make these businesses become more efficient and be capable for expansion,” he said.

The special introductory price of the TwinPOS3500G1 is P79,000. For more information about it, call NEC Philippines at 848-6400 or e-mail at [email protected].
