Rizal links up with Netizens

Dr. Jose Rizal has caught up with the computer generation, the very ones he called the hope of the fatherland.

Now with just a click of the mouse, students and anyone interested in his life and works can learn more about him by visiting the website of Jose Rizal University, www.joserizal.ph.

Everything anyone would like to know about the most important man in Philippine history is there – his family, childhood, loves, his work in the Propaganda Movement, his last hours, execution, his novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo and other works, even myths about his relationship to Hitler and Mao Zedong. And these bits of information are constantly updated, making Rizal as much a part of our present times.

Launched on his 141st birth anniversary four months ago, the dedicated website is the first on the list in the Yahoo search engine, which cites several links to other Rizal websites.

To date, the site has had 12,470 hits or visits as its content continues to expand. One of the latest additions is Rizal’s Letters to the Women of Malolos.

The website has been endorsed by Commissioner Ester Garcia of the Commission on Higher Education, and is a must-visit site for every Filipino.
