Alternergy acquires two large wind projects from CleanTech

Alternergy [ALTER 0.89 unch; 85% avgVol] [link] has disclosed that it is acquiring two wind power projects in Quezon Province through its special purpose company, Calavite Passage Wind Power Corp. In a statement on 22 September 2025, ALTER said it is acquiring the Tayabas North and Tayabas South wind energy projects from CleanTech Global Renewables Inc. The Tayabas North project has an estimated capacity of at least 96MW. Company president Gerry Magbanua said the acquisition marks Alternergy’s second wind project in Quezon, following the 64MW Alabat Wind Project, which is slated for completion in early 2026.
MB BOTTOM-LINE: I’ve been waiting for win/win transactions like this in the renewable energy space, where smaller firms offload unconstructed projects that have been awarded contracts under the DoE’s auction program to firms like ALTER with greater fundraising potential and a lower cost of capital. The smaller firm gets a big bump in cash or assets in exchange for the projects, and the larger firm gets to add to its pipeline without the overhead of going through the bidding process. I really like how ALTER operates.
