Eco-friendly, healthy paint brand from China enters the Philippines

Euden Valdez - Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines — Paint is considered as one of the most valuable and utilized products in the construction industry. However, paint is also known for its harmful effects to people and the environment because of its toxic components.

For builders and even individuals looking for a healthier and eco-friendlier alternative in the market, there is now 3Trees in the Philippines.

Established in China in 2003, 3Trees has been among the top paint brands in the country. It is famous for its full product range of non-toxic, water-based and odorless paint that withstand weather and time due to its durability and technology.

In March, local distributor Orshas Corp. opened the first ever 3Trees store in the country at Bernmann Centre along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City.

“3Trees represent natural, green and healthy,” said Vincent Sy, 3Trees Philippines general manager, in an interview with Philstar.com. “We want to bring healthier and high-quality paint products here in the Philippines since we’ve seen that some of the paint brands here in the Philippines are slightly prone to toxic and metalline ingredients.”

Sy explained that highly toxic paints can cause dizziness and vomiting when inhaled right after application. Worse, toxins used in oil-based paints can also harm the lungs.

3Trees is free from all the harmful toxins because it is water-based paint. Homeowners or building occupants can immediately occupy a newly-painted space.

“We are promoting living fresh with 3Trees. After eight hours of painting using our products, you can live or move in right away,” Sy said.

The general manager also assured buyers that 3Trees paints are durable despite being water-based.

“All the ingredients used to produce 3Trees are certified, tested and with quality assurance. Our products have more coverage and thickness versus those of competitor brands,” he added.

3Trees paint products are mostly weather- and pollution-resistant. When dirt or smug attach to the surface, it can be washed by rain or cleaned with water. This is part of the brand’s complete line of paints.

“With extra care of the client, we can guarantee that our paint can last up to 10-15 years,” Sy said.

Another unique product that 3Trees is introducing is its line of architectural or masonry paint, which the brand pioneered in China. The paint can replicate granite, natural stone, rock-chip and textured surfaces.

3Trees guarantees a 95-percent similarity to those natural finishes but with pricing at 70- to 80-percent less — making the architectural coating a cost-efficient alternative.

Besides adhesives and architectural paintings, the brand also carries wood furniture coating and decorative paint.

The distributing company also offers application services or training, on top of 10-year quality assurance and up to three-year of warranty.

With its healthier and eco-friendlier alternatives, as well as unique products and competitive pricing, 3Trees is bullish that it can establish a strong clientele in the Philippines.

For its future, Sy shared: “Since we are newcomers, we want to first build our image via this store. It’s still our goal to be common and localized but for now, we want to be unique. So we are planning to establish at least three to five stores here in Manila, but are also considering distribution to local paint and hardware suppliers or stores.” Video by Erwin Cagadas
