FDCP launches climate change scriptwriting contest

MANILA, Philippines - The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) has called on scriptwriters to submit entries focusing on aspects of climate change, either for short feature or full-length documentary. Deadline for submission is on December 19, 2014.

The contest encourages writers to delve into the topic of climate change following recent catastrophic storms that hit the country.

Winners will be decided by two separate competition committee juries, one for each category. The two panels of jurors will be announced after submissions have been sent. Winners shall be announced in January 2015.

The winners of the short feature script category will receive a prize of P50,000 for 1st place, P25,000 for 2nd place, and P10,000 for 3rd.

For full-length documentary script category, winners will receive a prize of P100,000 for 1st place, P50,000 for 2nd place, and P25,000 for 3rd.

Once the winning scripts have been chosen, the FDCP shall provide seed money to the winning entries for their respective productions into either a short feature (10 to 20 minutes) or a full-length documentary (at least 40 minutes). The seed amounts will be P150,000 each to the three short features, and P500,000 each to the three full-length documentaries.

The six short features and full-length documentaries will be shown during the World Premieres Film Festival Philippines in June 2015.

The forms must be duly accomplished and submitted with the completed screenplay entry either online to [email protected] or brought to the FDCP offices on the 26th floor Export Bank Plaza, Sen. Gil Puyat Ave. cor. Chino Roces Ave., Makati City.

No more than one entry will be accepted from each scriptwriter.
